The Annual Meeting, Athens, 21 October 2008

The EuroRIs-Net project Annual Meeting was organised in 21 October 2008, in the premises of the National Hellenic Research Foundation in Athens. 36 partners from 29 countries participated in the meeting. At the opening of the meeting, representatives of the project coordinator (National Documentation Centre - EKT/NHRF) welcomed the members of the Consortium, and reaffirmed the commitment of the institution to the success of the project.
The results of the Questionnaire, aiming at identifying the level of experience of the RI-NCPs, revealed the high "fluctuation" of NCPs, a fact which demonstrates the importance of the Virtual Helpdesk and the necessity to further emphasise on training issues within the project. The key challenge is the provision of a high-quality, consistent RIs NCP service across Europe via the management of knowledge generated in project, as a result of the use of the Virtual Helpdesk and the exploitation of the Handbook for the Good Practices in NCP work (to be produced at the last stage of the project). Discussion was raised about continuous effort for a fruitful and continuous information flow between RIs NCPs network and ESFRI during the project lifecycle, cooperation with other Networks and identification of relevant Calls and Specific transnational awareness activities for target groups less familiar with the Research Infrastructures Specific Programme.
Finally, all present partners unanimously welcomed the UK NCP in the project, which expressed the intention to participate as observer, as previewed in the Technical Annex.
